Anti-aging Effect of Psoraleae Fructus Extract in UVA-irradiated HaCaT Cells

Abstract
Purpose: This research was carried out to identify the skin anti-aging effect of Psoraleae Fructus extract on HaCaT cells.

Methods: To investigate anti-aging effects of Psoraleae Fructus on HaCaT cells, we measured cell viability, mRNA expression, and hyaluronic acid secretion.

Results: In this study, we elucidated the effects of Psoraleae Fructus extract on AQP3, HAS2, KRT1, and KRT10 mRNA expression and hyaluronic acid production. Real-time RT-PCR showed that Psoraleae Fructus extract increased mRNA level of AQP3, HAS2, KRT1, and KRT10 gene and HA-ELISA assay also revealed that Psoraleae Fructus increased HA production in HaCaT cells.

Conclusion: Therefore, we successfully identified the anti-aging effect of Psoraleae Fructus extract, and this result showed that the Psoraleae Fructus extract can be a considerable potent cosmetic ingredient for skin moisturizing and anti-aging. Based on this, we anticipated further researches will study mechanisms of Psoraleae Fructus extract to develop not only cosmetics but healthcare food or medicines.
